Marinating the Jerk Steak
Marinate the Steak
In a bowl, combine the jerk seasoning, soy sauce, lime juice, garlic, and olive oil. Place the steak in a shallow dish or resealable bag, pour the marinade over the steak, and ensure it is evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for maximum flavor.
Cooking the Jerk Steak
Preheat the Grill
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, about 375-400°F (190-200°C).
Grill the Steak
Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the excess marinade. Grill the steak for 4-6 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust cooking time to your desired doneness. Let the steak rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.
Preparing the Shrimp
Prep the Shrimp
In a bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, jerk seasoning, salt, and pepper until coated evenly.
Cook the Shrimp
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from heat and set aside.
Making the Yellow Rice
Prepare the Rice
In a saucepan, combine the rice, water, turmeric, garlic powder, salt, and butter. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
Assembling the Dish
Plate the Dish
Serve the jerk steak slices and shrimp over a bed of yellow rice. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro or sliced scallions for a pop of freshness. Enjoy your flavorful Jerk Steak & Shrimp over Yellow Rice!
