Ingredients
For the Brownies:
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 cup sour cream
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 ¾ cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3-4 bananas)
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
¾ tsp salt
For the Brown Butter Frosting:
½ cup unsalted butter
4 cups powdered sugar
1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp milk (more as needed)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat & Prepare Pan
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
Step 2: Make the Banana Brownie Batter
1. In a large bowl, beat together sugar, sour cream, and softened butter until light and creamy.
2. Add eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla. Beat until combined.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.
4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Don’t overmix.
Step 3: Bake
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool while making the frosting.

Step 4: Brown the Butter
1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
2. Continue cooking until butter begins to foam and turns golden brown (you’ll smell a nutty aroma).
3. Remove from heat and immediately stir in powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.
4. Mix until smooth and pourable. Add more milk if needed to reach a spreadable consistency.
Step 5: Frost & Finish
Spread frosting over warm brownies (not hot, or frosting may melt too much). Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Tips:
For extra flavor, add chopped walnuts or mini chocolate chips into the batter.
These store well in an airtight container at room temp for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
