Ingredients:
6 medium Granny Smith apples (washed & dried thoroughly)
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
¼ cup water
Blue food coloring (for that ocean color)
½ tsp flavoring (optional – coconut, cotton candy, or vanilla work well)
Blue edible glitter or crushed blue rock candy (optional, for sparkle)
Instructions:
1. Prep the Apples:
Remove apple stems and insert wooden sticks or skewers.
Place apples on a parchment-lined tray.
Make sure apples are completely dry, or the coating won’t stick.
2. Make the Candy Coating:
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water.
Stir until sugar dissolves.
Without stirring, let the mixture come to a boil.
Use a candy thermometer and cook until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
3. Color and Flavor:
Once at 300°F, remove from heat.
Add blue food coloring and flavoring (if using).
Swirl gently to mix (don’t over-stir).
4. Dip the Apples:
Quickly dip each apple into the candy mixture, rotating to coat evenly.
Let excess drip off, then place on parchment to set.
5. Optional Decoration:
While the coating is still wet, sprinkle with edible glitter or roll in crushed blue rock candy for a sparkling “ocean” effect.
6. Cool & Enjoy:
Let apples cool completely until the candy shell hardens.
