2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed

1/3 cup almonds

2 garlic cloves

1/2 lemon (zest and juice)

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

12 ounces spaghetti or linguine

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Fresh basil and parmesan shavings for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the pesto by blending basil, almonds, garlic, lemon zest and juice, parmesan, then incorporate olive oil. Season.
Cook pasta according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup cooking water before draining.
In a hot skillet, cook seasoned shrimp for 2 minutes on each side.
Mix pasta with pesto, adding some cooking water if necessary to loosen the sauce.
Incorporate shrimp and serve garnished with fresh basil and parmesan.
