1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined, tails on)

4 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon olive oil

4 garlic cloves, minced

¼ cup dry white wine (or chicken broth)

½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

Zest of ½ lemon (optional but flavorful)

Freshly grated Parmesan (optional for serving)

Cooked linguine or angel hair pasta (optional, for serving)

1. Prep the shrimp:

Pat the shrimp dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.

2. Cook the shrimp:

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter and 1 tablespoon olive oil.

Add the shrimp in a single layer. Sear for about 1-2 minutes per side, just until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.

3. Make the sauce:

In the same pan, add remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Pour in the white wine (or chicken broth) and lemon juice. Add red pepper flakes and bring to a simmer for 2-3 minutes, letting the alcohol cook off and the sauce reduce slightly.

4. Combine:

Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.

Sprinkle with lemon zest and parsley.

5. Serve:

Serve hot over pasta or with crusty bread to soak up the garlic butter sauce.

Top with grated Parmesan, if desired.
