Ingredients:
For the base:
– 225g malted milk biscuits (crushed, around 2 ¼ cups)
– 200g milk chocolate (about 1 cup + 2 tbsp)
– 125g Maltesers (roughly 1 ⅔ cups)
– 160g butter (about ½ cup + 3 tbsp)
– 3 tbsp golden syrup
– 1 tbsp cocoa powder
For the topping:
– 300g chocolate (milk chocolate is also great) (around 1 ¾ cups)
– 100g Maltesers (some can be chopped if you prefer) (about 1 ⅓ cups)
Directions:
Prepare the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed malted milk biscuits and cocoa powder. Melt the butter and milk chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in the microwave until smooth.
Mix Together: Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the crushed biscuits and stir until fully combined. Add the golden syrup and Maltesers, mixing gently to avoid breaking them.
Transfer to Tray: Line a square baking tray (approximately 8×8 inches) with parchment paper. Press the biscuit mixture evenly into the base of the tray, smoothing it down with the back of a spoon. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes to set.
Prepare the Topping: Melt the chocolate for the topping in a similar manner as before. Once melted, pour it over the chilled base, spreading it evenly.
Add Maltesers: Scatter the additional Maltesers on top of the melted chocolate, pressing them in slightly for a decorative finish.
Chill and Serve: Return the tray to the refrigerator for another hour or until fully set. Once set, cut into squares and serve. Enjoy this deliciously sweet and crunchy treat!
