Ingredients:
2 cups warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
1/2 cup honey
1 packet active dry yeast (or 1 1/2 tablespoons)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup olive oil
5 1/2 to 6 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions:
1. Activate Yeast:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and honey. Stir until the honey is fully dissolved.
Add the yeast and stir gently.
Let sit for about 5 minutes, until foamy.
2. Mix Wet Ingredients:
Add the salt and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
3. Add Flour:
Begin adding flour, 1 cup at a time, stirring until a soft dough forms. Start with 5 1/2 cups and add more if the dough is too sticky.
4. Knead:
Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes, by hand or with a dough hook, until smooth and elastic.
5. First Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
6. Use As Desired:
Punch down and shape the dough for bread, rolls, pizza, or buns.
Let it rise again after shaping for another 30–45 minutes before baking.
7. Bake:
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for bread/rolls, or according to the recipe you’re using (like 425°F for pizza).
