Ingredients:

• 1 cup warm milk
• ¼ cup granulated sugar
• 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
• 4 cups all-purpose flour
• ¼ cup melted butter
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 egg

 

Instructions:

• In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
• Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
• In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
• Add the yeast mixture, egg, and melted butter.
• Mix until a sticky dough forms.
• Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
• (Or use a stand mixer with dough hook, about 6 minutes).
• Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
• Punch down the dough and roll it out about ½ inch thick.
• Cut into 2–3 inch circles (or squares).
• Fold each piece in half (classic Parker House style) and place on a greased baking sheet.
• Cover shaped rolls with a clean towel and let rise for 30–40 minutes until puffy.
• Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
• Bake rolls for 12–15 minutes, until golden brown.
• Brush hot rolls with melted butter right after baking for that signature soft, buttery finish.
