Ingredients
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup vinegar (apple cider vinegar works best)
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)
1 tsp smoked paprika (or regular paprika)
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk together all ingredients.
2. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring often.
3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10–15 minutes, until thickened to your liking.
4. Taste and adjust seasoning — more sugar for sweetness, more vinegar for tang, or more cayenne for spice.
5. Let it cool slightly before using. Store in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
