Grilled Steak with Savory Mushroom Sauce and Smooth Mashed Potatoes

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

For the steak:
2 ribeye steaks
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter
For the mushroom gravy:
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
1 tbsp butter
1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tsp thyme, fresh or dried
Salt and pepper to taste
For the mashed potatoes:
2 large potatoes, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup milk
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
For the mashed potatoes: Boil the potatoes in salted water for 15 minutes until tender. Mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper.
For the steak: Season steaks with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Cook steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Remove and set aside.
For the gravy: In the same pan, melt butter and sauté the mushrooms until soft, about 3-4 minutes. Add beef broth, cream, and thyme. Let simmer until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
Serve the steaks with mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes on the side.
