Ingredients:
14 oz (400g) smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced into ½-inch rounds
2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen, thawed)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Salt and black pepper to taste
½ teaspoon Italian seasoning or dried thyme
Juice of ½ lemon (optional, for brightness)
Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving – optional)
Instructions:
1. Cook Sausage:
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned on both sides (about 5–7 minutes). Remove and set aside.
2. Steam Broccoli:
In the same skillet, add a splash of water and the broccoli florets. Cover and let steam for 2–3 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain any remaining water.
3. Make Garlic Butter Sauce:
Reduce heat to medium. Add the butter to the skillet.
Once melted, stir in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
4. Combine:
Return the sausage to the skillet. Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning.
Toss everything together for another 2–3 minutes until coated in the garlic butter and heated through.
Squeeze in lemon juice if using, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
5. Serve:
Serve hot, optionally topped with Parmesan. Great on its own or over rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes.
