1. Beat the butter and cream cheese together in a large bowl using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy (about 2–3 minutes).
2. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
3. Gradually add the powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating well after each addition until the frosting reaches your desired sweetness and consistency.
4. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and beat again for another 1–2 minutes until light and fluffy.
