Ingredients
For the Dough:
2 ¾ cups (345g) all-purpose flour
2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
¼ cup (60ml) warm milk (100–110°F / 37–43°C)
½ cup (120ml) sweetened condensed milk
1 large egg
¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
½ tsp salt
For Brushing:
1 tbsp melted butter (optional)
1 tbsp condensed milk (optional, to mix with melted butter for sweet glaze)
Instructions
1. Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Make the Dough:
In a large bowl or stand mixer, add:
Flour
Salt
Condensed milk
Egg
Butter
Activated yeast mixture
Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic (or use a dough hook on medium speed for 6–8 minutes).
3. First Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
4. Shape the Dough:
Punch down the dough, divide it into 3 or 4 equal portions.
Roll each portion into a ball or log, then place into a greased loaf pan side by side (or shape as rolls if preferred).
5. Second Rise:
Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy and nearly doubled.
6. Bake:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
7. Optional Glaze:
While still warm, brush the top with melted butter, or mix 1 tbsp condensed milk + 1 tbsp butter for a glossy sweet glaze.
