For the beef:
300g beef (rump or tenderloin, cut into thin strips)
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
1 pinch pepper
For the cooking:
1 large onion, chopped
1-2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional but recommended)
2 tbsp water
Chives or cilantro for garnish (optional)

1. Marinate the meat (10-15 min):
Mix the beef strips with 1 tbsp. Combine 1 tbsp soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and a little pepper. Let stand while you prepare the other ingredients.
2. Stir-fry the beef:
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok or frying pan very hot. Quickly fry the beef (1 to 2 minutes max, just to brown), then remove from the pan and set aside.
3. Cook the onions:
Add a little more oil if needed, then sauté the garlic and onion over medium heat until translucent and lightly browned (3-4 minutes).
4. Assemble everything:
Return the beef to the pan. Add 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp oyster sauce, and a little water. Mix well and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, just until everything is well coated and heated through. 5. Serve hot: Sprinkle with chives or cilantro if desired. Serve with white rice.
