Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter (cut into small cubes)
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
3/4 cup milk (or buttermilk for extra flavor)
For the garlic butter topping:
3 tbsp melted butter
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried parsley (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and salt.
3. Cut in the butter: Add the cold butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut it into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Add cheese & milk: Stir in shredded cheddar. Pour in milk and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
5. Drop the biscuits: Scoop heaping spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
6. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
7. Brush with garlic butter: Mix melted butter, garlic powder, and parsley. Brush over hot biscuits right after baking.
