Ingredients:
12 mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese)
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
1 cup plain or Italian-style breadcrumbs
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Optional: 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, pinch of salt and pepper
Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Instructions:
1. Prep the Coating Stations:
In one bowl, place the flour.
In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and optional seasonings.
2. Coat the Mozzarella:
Roll each mozzarella stick in flour, then dip in egg, then coat in breadcrumb mixture.
For best results, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps again to double-coat.
3. Freeze:
Place coated sticks on a tray lined with parchment paper.
Freeze for at least 1 hour (this prevents cheese from leaking when frying).
4. Fry:
Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
Fry mozzarella sticks 2–3 at a time for about 1–2 minutes, until golden brown.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
5. Serve:
Enjoy hot with marinara sauce, ranch, or your favorite dip!
