Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1/2 cup bacon bits
1/4 cup BBQ sauce (plus extra for topping)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 egg
1/4 cup diced onion (optional but recommended)
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Mix ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bacon bits, BBQ sauce, breadcrumbs, cheddar cheese, egg, diced onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined—don’t overwork it.
3. Form loaf:
Shape the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it in the prepared pan or on the baking sheet.
4. Top with sauce:
Spread a thin layer of BBQ sauce over the top of the loaf.
5. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
6. Rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing to help it set.
