Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
1 tsp tonic water (for glow) or a pinch of vitamin B2 powder (riboflavin)
Gel food coloring: blue, purple, green (for aurora effect)
Optional: Edible glitter or shimmer dust
Instructions:
1. Prep a mold or pan:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use silicone molds. Lightly grease if necessary.
2. Combine ingredients:
In a heavy-bottom saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir gently over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
3. Boil to hard crack stage:
Increase heat and boil without stirring until the candy reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer (hard crack stage).
4. Remove from heat:
Immediately remove from heat. Let the bubbling settle for 10–15 seconds.
5. Add glow & colors:
Stir in tonic water or riboflavin for glow.
Quickly swirl in your blue, green, and purple food coloring. You can swirl them lightly for a Northern Lights effect.
Optional: add a pinch of edible shimmer for sparkle.
6. Pour & cool:
Pour into molds or onto the lined pan. Let cool completely until hardened (about 30 minutes).
7. Break & store:
If using a flat pan, crack into shards. Store in an airtight container away from moisture.
