Ingredients:
1 cup orange juice (preferably fresh)
1/4 cup brown sugar (adjust to taste)
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
Optional (for thickness & flavor):
1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
1–2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon chili flakes or sriracha (for a spicy kick)
Zest of 1 orange (for added citrus flavor)
Instructions:
1. Combine Ingredients:
In a saucepan over medium heat, mix together orange juice, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. Add garlic, ginger, and chili flakes if using.
2. Simmer:
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5–7 minutes to let the flavors blend.
3. Thicken (optional):
Stir in the cornstarch slurry and continue cooking for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens. Stir constantly to avoid lumps.
4. Finish & Serve:
Remove from heat. Taste and adjust sweetness, saltiness, or acidity as needed. Let cool slightly before using.
