Ingredients:
8–10 taco shells (hard or soft)
1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
Salt & pepper, to taste
1 cup pizza sauce or marinara
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices (or regular pepperoni, chopped)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking to melt cheese (skip this if doing stove-top assembly).
2. Cook the beef mixture:
In a skillet over medium heat, sauté chopped onion in a little oil until softened (about 3–4 minutes).
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Stir in ground beef or sausage, breaking it up as it cooks. Cook until browned and no longer pink.
Season with oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
Stir in the pizza sauce and let simmer for 3–4 minutes.
3. Assemble the tacos:
Place taco shells on a baking sheet or in a baking dish.
Spoon the beef mixture into each shell.
Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and top with pepperoni.
Add Parmesan if using.
4. Bake (optional):
Bake in the preheated oven for 8–10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
5. Finish & serve:
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley. Serve hot with extra pizza sauce on the side for dipping.
