8 oz cream cheese, softened
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
Directions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
Make the Filling: In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, egg, vanilla, and flour. Mix until creamy and well combined. Set aside.
Make the Cake Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Add Wet Ingredients: Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix until combined. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
Assemble the Cake: Pour half of the chocolate cake batter into the prepared pan. Spoon the cream cheese mixture evenly over the batter. Carefully pour the remaining cake batter over the top.
Bake: Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
Cool and Serve: Let the cake cool completely in the pan before slicing. Serve as-is or with a dusting of powdered sugar or chocolate drizzle.
