Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional for flavor)
1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese (or a mix)
1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1 egg (for egg wash)
Optional: red pepper flakes or steak seasoning for added flavor
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cook the filling:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté until softened (about 4–5 minutes).
Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well and let it cool slightly.
3. Assemble the Stromboli:
Roll out pizza dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface or parchment paper.
Spread the cooled beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides.
Sprinkle cheese over the meat mixture.
4. Roll it up:
Starting from the long side, tightly roll up the dough into a log (like a jelly roll).
Pinch the seams to seal and tuck in the ends.
Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
5. Brush with egg wash: Beat the egg and brush it over the top for a golden crust.
6. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
7. Cool & Serve: Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with marinara or cheese sauce for dipping.
