Ingredients:
1 lb small button mushrooms, ends trimmed
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 large eggs
1/4 cup milk or water
Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
1. Prep the Mushrooms:
Rinse mushrooms quickly and pat dry thoroughly with paper towels.
2. Prepare Breading Station:
Bowl 1: 1/2 cup flour.
Bowl 2: Whisk together eggs and milk (or water).
Bowl 3: Combine remaining 1 cup flour with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
3. Coat the Mushrooms:
Dredge mushrooms in plain flour.
Dip in the egg mixture.
Toss in seasoned flour until well-coated.
4. Heat the Oil:
Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
5. Fry the Mushrooms:
Fry in batches for 3–5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
6. Drain & Serve:
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with ranch, garlic mayo, or spicy ketchup.
