Ingredients:
1 (4-oz) bittersweet chocolate baking bar, chopped
3/4 cup butter (1 1/2 sticks)
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1–2 tsp blue gel food coloring
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt (optional but recommended)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
2. Melt chocolate & butter:
In a saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the chopped chocolate and butter together, stirring until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
3. Mix wet ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until fluffy.
Stir in the melted chocolate mixture.
4. Color it:
Add blue food coloring until you achieve your desired “blue velvet” shade (1–2 tsp gel food coloring gives a vibrant blue).
5. Add dry ingredients:
Fold in the flour and salt (if using) until fully combined. Don’t overmix.
6. Bake:
Pour the batter into your prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 28–32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
7. Cool & serve:
Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
