Ingredients
Strawberry Simple Syrup
3 cups strawberries, washed and stems removed then sliced (should measure three cups after they are sliced)
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
Sweet Tea
3 cups boiling water
3 family-sized Lipton original tea bags
1 cup sugar
8 cups cold water, in a large pitcher
1 lemon, juiced
1 lemon, cut into slices or wedges for garnish in glass
6 to 8 strawberries (washed but leave stems on, with a cut on the bottom for garnish on the glass)
ice
Instructions
1. Make the Strawberry Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine sliced strawberries, 2 cups water, and 1 cup sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Once the strawberries are soft and the sugar has fully dissolved (about 10–12 minutes), remove from heat.
2. Let the syrup cool slightly, then strain through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or measuring cup, pressing gently on the strawberries to extract more juice. Discard solids. Chill syrup until ready to use.
3. Brew the Sweet Tea: In a heatproof bowl or large measuring cup, pour 3 cups boiling water over the 3 tea bags. Let steep for 10–15 minutes. Remove tea bags and stir in 1 cup sugar until dissolved.
4. Pour the sweet tea base into a large pitcher. Add 8 cups cold water, the fresh lemon juice, and the chilled strawberry syrup. Stir to combine well.
5. Serve over plenty of ice, and garnish each glass with a lemon wedge and a fresh strawberry on the rim.
